The 1,000-Book Amazon Challenge
A simple personal mission to win a $100 bet — and prove that a first-time author can move
1,000 books through Amazon with a clear plan and a bit of help.
Where This All Started
A good friend bet me $100 that I couldn’t sell
1,000 copies of my book Cold Showers: The Journey Within through Amazon.
Any format counts — Kindle, paperback, or hardcover — as long as Amazon registers the sale.
This isn’t a charity ask. The book is already written, printed, and live.
This is a focused, time-bound marketing and systems challenge with a very simple target:
1,000 Amazon sales.
What This Campaign Actually Funds
This is pure marketing capital to execute a clear, step-by-step plan:
- Hire a contractor to build the full website and funnel (about 6 weeks).
- Connect all the integrations, systems, and tracking pieces.
- Bring lots of people to the site in a simple, human way.
- Run people-based surveys and interactions for about 90 days.
- Guide interested people over to the Amazon page to purchase the book.
- Cover all upfront costs while waiting for Amazon’s delayed payouts.
None of this is random. The overall approach is based on
six different AI engines that all pointed to the same basic roadmap:
if I do these specific things (which cost money), there is a real, practical path to reach
1,000 Amazon sales.
How the Loan & Gratitude Payment Work
This is set up as a loan, not a donation.
- Total goal: $1,000 in loans (from one person or a few people combined).
- Minimum to start: The project does not begin until the full $1,000 is in place.
- Duration: About 6 months (ish) from the official start date.
The rough timing looks like this:
- Weeks 1–6: Contractor builds the site and system.
- Next ~3 months: Bringing people to the site, running surveys, refining the message, and sending people to Amazon.
- Final window: Amazon releases payouts, then I repay the loan.
Once the cycle completes:
- 100% of your loan is repaid, and
- you receive a 20% Gratitude Payment, as long as things perform as expected.
If for any reason the challenge underperforms or needs to slow down, the commitment is simple:
your principal is returned in full. No loss, no tricks.
