Hi, I’m Duane Forrest — the guy behind this website, this book, this project, and pretty much everything you see around here.
This page is the “Privacy Policy,” but I keep things human. Here’s what I think a privacy page should cover — plain and simple.
If anything is missing or unclear, reach me anytime:

You’ll see notes from me throughout — not legal jargon, just me being real about how this place works.
I run coldshowersjourneywithin.ca, duaneforrest.ca, and soon coldshowers.ca.
Word to the wise: This is more about awareness and my stance on these things — read, think, act based on what feels right for you.

Hey everyone — That’s the home base. Nothing fancy. It’s just me behind the curtain, running the show with a small team (mostly me and … hmmm). – Duane
Hey everyone — Just don’t be rotten. If something bothers you, message me directly. Life is short — let’s stay kind. If you’re not happy, change the channel. It’s just me here.
When you leave a comment, the site collects what you type, your IP address, and browser info to filter spam and bots.
Gravatar may check an anonymous version of your email. Their privacy policy: https://automattic.com/privacy/
Once approved, your comment shows with your profile image.

PS: Most of this stuff is above my paygrade — the host or software just handles it.
If you upload images, avoid embedding location/GPS data — people can technically extract that.
Soooo — rule of thumb: Keep your exact location private unless you want it known. – Duane
Here’s the honest rundown (most websites do this):
Basically — Cookies are just website stuff. I don’t fully understand them either — I’m on your side. Clear them if you want. – Duane
Videos, images, or posts from other sites behave like you visited that platform directly.
Hey everyone — If you click a YouTube video, you’re in YouTube land. They do their thing. Use your judgment — it is what it is. – Duane
Password reset emails include your IP — standard stuff.
Honestly — I’m too busy to share anything anyway. Check out the “Magic Form” (no lists, no cookies, no tracking): csjw.ca/refer-a-friend
Basically — Tech checks IPs to make sure you’re you. – Duane
Comments stay so the system can auto-recognize you later.
Account data stays in your profile until you edit/delete it.
Just so you know — I keep only what helps the site run smoothly. – Duane
You can request a file of your data (please don’t — I wouldn’t know where to start 😅).
You can also ask for deletion (some exceptions apply).
In plain terms — If you want your info gone, just ask:
